Extraordinary Results Goes to Texas

Howard County, Howard College, and the towns of Big Spring, Coahoma, and Foursan, Texas, hosted Dr. Vaughn Grisham and the Extraordinary Results in Ordinary Communities confrence for a three day event reaching out to local citizens from the area.

As in the past presentations in Mississippi, Alabama, and Arkansas, representatives from five communities told of their successes in the face of economic decline. From Becky Anderson leading the Handmade in America regional arts and crafts program in western North Carolina, to Karen Kimbrell and the Swamp Gravy folklife play in Colquitt, Georgia...reaching into the drug infested, crime-ridden neighborhood of Haven Acres in Tupelo, Mississippi, and on to Houston, Minnesota, as the locals turned a crisis in education to an opportunity for technical advancement and connectivity...and last, but certainly not least is Morrillton, Arkansas, where nearly one half of the manufacturing jobs were lost within less than two weeks...all these stories and their solutions were placed into a transferrable model by Dr. Grisham.
